Welcome to Issue #16 of Sake Industry News. Things are definitely starting to warm up in Japan as summer looms. Of course the glaring absence of sake festivals and tastings means the weather doesn't bring with it the usual excitement usually felt at this time of year, but we'll enjoy it however we can.

This issue brings a steady stream of COVID-19 related news which we've collated into a COVID-19 Roundup section. Each week the pandemic is extending its influence in the industry, and there's bound to be more changes ahead. 

Nevertheless, we have some good news too, as well as our regular column with John Gauntner tackling some of the grey areas surrounding the current state of licensing for new breweries, an increasingly intriguing and mysterious topic.
