Sake Industry News. Issue #40.

Tedorigawa Goes Green, which prefecture makes the best sake?, National New Sake Tasting Competition cancelled, Ayasugi Shuzōjō closes its doors, Nabeshima hotel and restaurant, plus more!

Welcome to Issue #40 of SIN.

After last issue's rather dour intro we were hoping we'd be looking at slightly better days, but with the State Of Emergency in the major regions of Japan being extended till the end of May (at least) and more regional areas being considered for the SOE treatment, the situation hasn't exactly improved.

Naturally, this means more bad news for breweries that had already cut their production volume for the season, and little joy for all the sake bars that are unable to serve alcohol. As summer creeps up and natsuzake begins hitting the market, it's an awful time for breweries to be deprived of precious sales.

If you'd like to know more about how COVID is affecting the sake industry, sign up for JSS's upcoming "The Current State Of The Sake Industry" webinar featuring SIN founder John Gauntner alongside some very knowledgeable speakers as they discuss where the sake industry is at and how it is moving forward. Details can be found here.

And now for the news...
